Baroness Scotland, the minister responsible for youth justice, said the research shows that 82 per cent of the target group successfully engaged with the projects over two years, and there has also been a "significant reduction" in arrest rates. YIPs are run by offending teams and voluntary sector crime diversion groups. They usually work with a group of 50 young people considered to be most at risk of involvement in crime.
