In the News: Coming to a kids' party near you -- the evil clown inspired by horror movies.

2 mins read
Once upon a time children's parties featured conjurers, pass the parcel and musical chairs but it seems that's way too tame for young revellers nowadays. Instead, parents are calling upon the services of an "evil clown" as a special treat.

"Dominic Deville stalks young victims for a week. He posts notes warning children they are being watched, telling them they will be attacked," reported Metro. But before you get on the phone to children's services, the "attack" involves being splatted in the face with a cake.

"The child feels more and more that it is being pursued," said Deville. But he added: "It's all in fun and if, at any point the kids get scared or the parents are concerned, we stop right there."

Deville set up his Evil Clown service in Lucerne, Switzerland, after being inspired by some of his favourite horror films. "I think what Dominic is doing is a great idea," Stephen Vaughan of Clowns International, told the paper. "Bringing a bit of life and laughter into kids' lives is what we're all about." Surely this was some kind of April Fool? But no — just a very scary fool.
