The so-called "justice buses" would visit areas lacking the resources to stage separate youth and adult courts, shadow justice minister David Burrowes said at the Youth Justice Board annual convention last week.
Burrowes told delegates the separation of youth courts and adult courts is disappearing, with some areas not holding youth courts at all.
"We are looking at how youth courts can revert back to being locally based," he said. "Often young offenders are sentenced outside their town, borough or, in some cases, county. Courtrooms could be set up anywhere. We are interested in justice buses as mobile courtrooms to provide a separate youth court setting in a community."
