Guy Taylor, organiser of Globalise Resistance, and committee member of NO2ID, is organising the youth-led campaign, Youth Against ID.
Taylor said: "We are speaking to young people to raise awareness for the campaign. The national ID register is the most intrusive database that's ever happened, and we are extremely worried over things like the racial profiling of young people, such as young Muslims."
An email group with 12 to 15 members has held two initial online meetings, and plans to increase membership over the summer by giving out flyers at youth clubs and gigs, and through the NO2ID web site.
