Jenny Monfort, policy and research officer at Centrepoint, said that building support into all services would help pick up any issues earlier.
"Many young people we see have mental health problems or drug and alcohol addictions," she said. "If someone in the health service picked up on these and referred them to support it would help."
Breaking it Down: Developing Whole-Family Approaches to Youth Homelessness was launched by YMCA England on Monday (8 December).
