Homelessness: Centres to develop best practice ideas

Nine of the centres are in the areas of Stockton-on-Tees, Knowsley, Wakefield, Wychavon, Leicester, Hertsmere, Croydon, Barnet, and Wiltshire. The 10th is youth housing charity St Basils, which will be working with the voluntary sector and the regional centres.

The centres will operate from September, developing best practice in the reduction and prevention of homelessness among 16- to 25-year-olds. The work forms part of Communities and Local Government's youth homelessness strategy.

Jean Templeton, chief executive of St Basils, said: "The idea is to have a mutual benefit, to share information and best practice, and to learn about what works and what doesn't from each other."
