Hi-tech help for parents to be unveiled

1 min read Social Care
The next stage of a 44m pound parenting programme is to be unveiled today (7 May) at an event hosted by BBC newsreader George Alagiah and Children's Secretary Ed Balls.

Charities and organisations involved in the Parent Know-How programme, which was announced last July, will showcase the help and support they can offer to parents.

The programme will use technology such as the internet, telephone helplines and text messaging services to help parents most in need, including those of disabled children. So far, £17m has been pledged for internet and helpline services.

This week's event, Get Tuned In, will let parents and local authorities see what is on offer and how the money is being spent. Parents will be able to look at projects funded by the programme and try some of the new technology.
