Origins, based in Wiltshire, will give homeless young people the chance to learn conservation skills, and Discovering Boiling Wells, in Bristol, will carry out research and restoration in an inner-city green corridor.
Frontiers will provide accredited training for 16- to 20-year-olds in Gloucestershire. It will work with Cheltenham Community Project.
Mike Thornton, project officer at Frontiers, said: "These young people may have drink, drug or housing problems. Conservation work helps to give them a new outlook."
The Heritage Lottery Fund developed Young Roots with The National Youth Agency, and members of the UK Youth Parliament acted as advisers. The fund welcomes applications for young people's heritage conservation projects.
