Help from: The Royal London Society for the Blind

Founded as long ago as 1838, the Royal London Society for the Blind is a leading provider of education and training for blind and visually impaired people across London and the south east of England.

Its services include a nursery and a school.

From the beginning of a visually impaired child's life, the society'sspecialist staff work with the whole family to help that child cope withwhat they are about to face in a dark world.

In the nursery, children learn their ABC, but in Braille, and they learnto adapt their physical mobility, how to catch someone's arm and be ledaround strange places.

At its Dorton House School, pupils are given specialist equipment andclose support.
