The claims come from independent evaluations of the School Health RapidRoll-Out Programme and the Large Scale Workforce Change for ChildrenProgramme in Cheshire and Merseyside for the Care Services ImprovementPartnership.
The two schemes introduced a number of roles, including assistantpractitioner and support posts, according to researchers HERCAssociates.
There have been positive results, with one area reporting that thedevelopment of a support worker role has reduced the number of childprotection meetings cancelled at the last minute.
However, researchers found in many areas that the skills practitionersneeded were only defined once practitioners were in post, rather thanwhen the jobs were designed.
