Health: Workers join up to help battle obesity

A draft obesity strategy is currently being considered by Leeds Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership. It proposes to try to extend joined-up working. This could include the expansion of Nip it in the Bud, a city council programme that helps provide varied activity sessions for many overweight young people at their local council leisure centres.

Research for Leeds North West Primary Care Trust in 2005 estimated that one in four 13-year-olds is overweight and one in nine is obese.
