Health: NHS must prioritise pain management

This will particularly affect those with speech impairments and more painful conditions such as juvenile arthritis.

Al Aynsley-Green wants the NHS to implement the pain management standards recommended in last year's National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services. He also wants better training in pain assessment for existing professionals and more investment in research into children's pain.

The commissioner will be working with organisations including the British Pain Society as part of a year-long campaign.
