A survey of Community Practitioners and Health Visitors' Associationmembers of Amicus in England found that half of primary care trusts wereplanning to restructure community nursing services, targeting seniorstaff.
Members in just under half of the membership centres surveyed said theywere affected by recruitment freezes, where new staff are not appointedwhen positions become vacant. A similar number said training budgetswere being cut.
Gail Cartmail, Amicus' head of health, said children's services such asSure Start could be further hit by government proposals to removeprimary care trusts' role as an employer.
