Health News: Smoking - Young people back sealed rooms plan

Young people have backed plans for separate smoking rooms in pubs in an online discussion, according to a report from the HeadsUp Forum.

More than 360 young people took part in the discussion, and debated thematter with MPs including shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley. NoLabour MPs or ministers took part.

However, young people who completed an online poll were split three waysbetween those supporting a partial ban, those against a ban at all andthose who were undecided.

Health secretary Patricia Hewitt wanted smoking allowed in sealed roomsaway from pub staff, but was forced to drop the idea following Cabinetopposition.
