Health news: Sexual Health - Young men are shy of treatment

Young men need more encouragement to report sexual illness say experts, after statistics showed the reported levels of infection in young women are more than double those of young men.

Professor Angus Nicoll, director of the Health Protection Agency's communicable disease surveillance centre, which released the statistics, said this was not because girls were more promiscuous, but that they were better at accessing clinics. He said it was also a sign of sexual behaviour, as one man could infect a large number of women.
