A charity is offering GPs up to 1,000 to check young people for chlamydia, prompting doctors to call for such screening to be included in their financial targets.
Since the Modernising Initiative charity made its offer, 14 practices insouth London have started offering the service.
But chlamydia screening is not included in the "points for prizes"quality framework that gives GPs a financial incentives to provideservices, despite being one of the NHS's six priorities.
