Health News: Paediatrics - Child growth charts set to be revised

Top paediatricians are to meet to assess the new guidelines being issued by the World Health Organisation on measuring the growth rates of babies.

The Royal College of Paediatricians and Child Health will meet withother child health organisations this summer to study the revisedcharts.

The charts currently used in the UK are based on growth rates of babiesfed on formula milk. This means mothers of breast-fed babies have foryears been told their babies are underweight or have been advised togive them formula milk to fatten them up (Children Now, 26 April-2 May).
