North Cumbria is tackling teenage pregnancy as a local priority, in addition to meeting national target levels to halve teenage pregnancy by 2020, and by 15 per cent by 2004. Co-ordination and monitoring of the teenage pregnancy strategy in Cumbria is driven by the children's and young people's partnership, which is forging links with other county strategies aimed at supporting vulnerable young people. Funding for teenage pregnancy work has been re-routed from health authorities to local authorities.
