Children who work out at the gym, at the Heights Leisure Centre inSandown, will also use scaled down multi-coloured rowing and cyclingmachines.
Stuart Babington, the gym's deputy manager, said: "We want to encouragechildren to go the gym from an early age. If they go to the leisurecentre to use the creche, they can also use the gym so that it becomespart of their daily routine."
The centre's three-month-old junior gym has already had an "incredibletake-up", which prompted the centre to run extra sessions, revealedBabington.
A junior gym is also offered at the island's Medina Centre, which usesresistance equipment, such as rowers and treadmills.
As no weight is involved, young people can exercise without the risk ofinjuring themselves.
