Health News: Diabetes - Transition services set to receive boost

Transition services for diabetic young people are to be boosted by a Department of Health working group set up to focus on the condition.

The group aims to improve the way children treated for diabetes aremoved to adult services.

Bridget Turner, head of healthcare policy at Diabetes UK, who will beworking in collaboration with the group, said very little practice hadbeen evaluated in the area.

One crucial area was to involve teenagers and their families in thesetting up of clinics, as they were hardly ever involved.
