Pupils at Grangetown Primary School were encouraged to bring in their old toothbrushes on Monday (6 December) to swap them with new ones and toothpaste. They were also asked about how often they visited the dentist.
The initiative, led by Emma Thomas, community health development worker at Middlesbrough primary care trust, could be extended to other schools.
It was funded by Redcar and Cleveland's Healthy Living Centre and the Big Lottery Fund.
