Bercow, MP for Buckingham, took part in a seminar with autism education charity TreeHouse last Monday, where he met with parents of children and young people with autism in order to gain a better understanding of the issues that need to be addressed by the government.
He said: "Being a parent of a child on the autistic spectrum, I understand how important it is to have speech, language and communication needs addressed early on."
Parent representatives from the TreeHouse School in Muswell Hill were present, as well as those from TreeHouse's parent support project, which operates across England.
An interim report will be published in March and put forward to the Department of Health and the Department for Children, Schools and Families. After a period of consultation the final report will be published in July.
