Health: Breastfeeding - Call for legal right to be widened

Plans for a legal right allowing mothers to breastfeed babies up to one year old in public should be extended to older babies, say campaigners.

The new right is part of the Single Equality Bill, and is outlined in aconsultation paper published by the Department for Communities and LocalGovernment last week. Belinda Phipps, the chief executive of theNational Childbirth Trust, said the consultation was fantastic. However'speaking of older babies, she said: "Whenever we're hungry we eat andbabies should have the same choice."
