The services will be in locations that attract young people and will have internet access, which is popular with adolescents for getting information on sensitive subjects such as sexual health.
The plans are in linse with the National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services and are outlined in Every Child Matters: Change for Children in Health Services, a guidance document issued before Christmas.
Amanda Allard, a senior policy officer at young people's charity NCH, welcomed the dedicated services, but said implementation was a concern. "Things need to move substantially, particularly around mental health," she said. "We have some reservations about whether there will be enough of a sea change of the type that we are looking for."
