It isn't the most conventional sales technique, but then this isn't the most conventional exhibition. It is the culmination of the youth service's Cash 4 Graff project, which aims to reduce graffiti in the area by working with young people considered to be vulnerable to committing such acts.
Over the course of 12 weeks, the young people have worked alongside professional artists, learning to hone their creative skills and channel their energies into producing ideas on canvas instead of in public places.
Tackle the causes
The scheme came about after the London Borough of Hillingdon recorded a fourfold increase in graffiti and resolved to find ways to tackle the problem. A conference was held to establish why young people, in particular, turned to graffiti and what could be done to stop the problem.
