Government says more Asbo analysis needed

Louise Casey, the respect co-ordinator, told MPs in the Public Accounts Committee that the Home Office needs to look in more detail at young people aged 10 to 17 who receive the orders.

The Home Office currently collects figures for the number of under-18s and over-18s given Asbos, but does not break down the information any further.

Casey said: We need to understand the difference between children, and people that are very near adulthood.

Home Office ministers have acknowledged that more research on Asbos is needed. In a Parliamentary debate on the subject David Davis, the shadow home secretary, asked if the Government accepted that there has not been enough analysis of what is effective in tackling antisocial behaviour.
