Name Speak Out
Summary Speak Out is a three-year programme for children and young people in Hackney who have speech, language and communication needs. It is run in partnership with Hackney NHS Speech and Language Therapy team

Social enterprise Artburst launched a series of creative workshops in Hackney for children with speech and language needs last year, using art and drama themed around popular children’s fiction.

The three-year Speak Out project involves two strands: Artburst Minis, which focuses on children in the early years; and Make a Play, which helps children in year 6 with their transition into secondary school.

Artburst Minis rotates around six children’s centres in the borough during school term time, offering sessions that involve songs, art activities and stories for children aged two to five and their parents and carers.
