According to the trust, stopping at two children is the most effectiveway to stop global warming and its consequences.
John Guillebaud, co-chair of the trust and an emeritus professor atUniversity College London, said: "Deciding to stop at two, or at leastto have one child fewer, is probably the simplest, quickest and mostsignificant thing any of us could do."
Critics have labelled the idea "bizarre" and pointed out the birth ratein Britain is currently lower than two children per woman, and as low as1.3 in other European countries.
