Generations Together

What is it? The Generations Together programme is a government scheme to improve relations between young and older people in local communities. It is designed to increase community cohesion and provide more volunteering opportunities.

How much is on offer? £5.5m will fund 12 intergenerational projects across England.

What will it fund? A range of projects that increase intergenerational activity, such as schemes to provide young people with positive older role models, or challenge older people's negative perceptions of young people. Projects should help to support vulnerable young and older people, by giving them the chance to experience new activities and improve their confidence.

Who can apply? All local authorities in England are invited to apply by 10 June. Applications should come from social or children's services departments, in partnership with relevant third-sector organisations.

Find out more: The government is seeking expressions of interest. For more information call 0870 000 2288 or email info@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk.
