Labour and the Liberal Democrats have both published youth manifestos in previous general elections, and are expected to do so again in the coming weeks. The Conservatives also intend to publish a youth document this time around.
The Tories say their polls show the youth vote is evenly spilt between the three main parties, but a YouGov poll for The Spectator published last week put Labour ahead with a quarter of the vote. The Liberal Democrats are backed by 21 per cent, with 17 per cent planning to vote Conservative.
But 37 per cent of the 270 18- to 25-year-olds questioned by YouGov said they were undecided. Pollster Mori says 41 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds backed Labour in 2001, with the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats on 27 and 24 per cent respectively.
