Funding: Young people set to determine how lottery cash will be spent

1 min read

The 200m Young People's Fund, part of the newly formed Big Lottery Fund, is due to launch at the end of September and young people will help decide how the money is spent.

Young People Now understands the fund will look for groups of young people to sit on regional lottery panels and make decisions on bids from individuals and smaller groups.

Grants worth about 40m will be administered regionally in England in the form of awards ranging from 5,000 to 150,000.

Of the remaining funds, about 35m will be spent on England-wide projects.

An additional 80m has already been earmarked for a range of existing English projects, including 25m for Positive Activities for Young People and 12.5m for Get Real (YPN, 21-27 July, p4).
