Funding watch - Secret Millionaire Fund

What is it? The Big Lottery Fund has linked up with the producers of Channel 4 programme The Secret Millionaire to develop the Secret Millionaire Fund. The fund is being promoted through the show, which features a millionaire who lives undercover in a deprived area before handing out money to deserving causes.

How much is on offer? A total of £1m is to be handed out in grants of between £300 and £10,000, except Wales where the maximum limit is £5,000.

What will it fund? The fund is using the same eligibility criteria as the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All programme. Examples of what will be funded include buying or hiring equipment, publicity material, transport costs and training.

Who can apply? Community and voluntary groups can apply themselves. There is also an option for members of the public to nominate a group, which will then be contacted directly by the Big Lottery Fund to assess its eligibility.
