1 min read

The Big Lottery Fund's Young People's Fund handed out 2.5m to organisations in the East Midlands, London, the Northwest and the Southeast last week.

London-based group Until the Violence Stops uses drama and creative writing workshops to help educate about violence against women. It will use the money to work with young people through a project called Trust.

Tamsin Larby, artistic director at Until the Violence Stops, said: "We will make a direct difference in the lives of young people across London and significantly contribute to creating a culture of zero tolerance around the issue of violence to women."

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in Liverpool received 148,000 for an initiative to stop teenagers smoking. Young people will form anti-tobacco youth groups in which they will discourage peers from smoking through music and plays.
