Differently for Young People programme will aim to help more local authorities develop effective models of providing youth services at a reduced cost

The launch of a new round of government funding to help develop innovative models of youth provision reflects the appetite among local authorities for finding new ways of delivering effective services at a reduced cost.
The £200,000 of funding provided through the Cabinet Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government's Delivering Differently for Young People (DDYP) programme aims to help up to five councils rethink the way they provide services for young people.
The funding - for which the window for applications ends on the 6 October - is the second made under the DDYP initiative.
Last year, £500,000 was split among 11 authorities (see box) to help fund initial development work aimed at devising models of youth services that are both financially sustainable and fulfil councils' legal obligations.
