Funding: Arts projects boosted by funds from Mediabox

1 min read

Let's Go Global is one of 18 media-based youth projects that have received a share of 800,000 from the Department for Education and Skills' Mediabox funding stream, run by a consortium including First Light Movies and the Media Trust.

Sarah McLoughlin, new media outreach co-ordinator at Let's Go Global, which is run by the council's arts department, said: "We have piloted a monthly 'what's on' online show for young people, by young people since November."

The funding will help the organisation launch the project officially in May and reach more young people.

Other projects that received funding include Liverpool Community Spirit, which aims to celebrate Saint George's Day with a multicultural DVD project with disadvantaged young people. Matthew Thompson, director of the organisation, said: "Saint George is an international saint who fought dragons and the DVD will focus on young people fighting modern day 'dragons' such as gang and gun culture."
