"Since Jack's been with us his behaviour has definitely improved and, although he does still have his moments, he's now a real team player, whether it's with us as a family or with his football or cricket team," reveals Janetta Sams who, with her husband Tom, has been fostering eight-year-old Jack for five years.
She explains that Jack, who has learning difficulties and exhibits challenging behaviour, was being considered for adoption, partly because he had suffered numerous placement moves early in life. But no adoptive parents could be found. "Originally, we were Jack's short-term foster carers but, after much discussion, we decided to become his long-term carers as we felt that, with support, we could offer him the family life, love and stability he clearly craved," adds Janetta.
