Financial Inclusion: Affordable loans for vulnerable

Banking group Abbey is providing 150,000 to set up affordable credit projects across the UK. The money will help a range of vulnerable groups, including young people in supported housing, to gain access to cheaper loans.

Young people will be able to apply for loans of up to 1,000 underthe scheme, which is being run in conjunction with Speke Advice Serviceand Riverside Credit Union.

Users of the Haste Project in Milton Keynes, which supports people withdrug and alcohol problems, will also be able to apply for affordablecredit to secure temporary accommodation and gain tenancies.
