Involvement of young people in sex education is emerging as an important theme in the government review into teaching the subject in schools. Sue Learner investigates.

Every person - young or old - is unique so one-size-fits-all sex and relationship education is most certainly not the answer. The most effective way to gauge what young people want is to ask them," says Robert Sassoon, a member of the UK Youth Parliament.

Eighteen-year-old Robert is a member of the steering group currently carrying out a review for the government on sex and relationship education (SRE) in schools. How to encourage schools to involve young people in SRE is one area the group is looking at. A key part of this is building links with local partners such as youth groups.
