The move comes after one of those charged with designing the London pilot warned that Cafcass might not be up to the job. Nicholas Crichton, resident district judge of the Inner London Families Court, said it was "common knowledge" Cafcass was overstretched in London.
The pilots, designed to help parents avoid lengthy court battles, will be run by Cafcass in Brighton and Sunderland (News, 23 March).
Discussions with as yet unnamed professional bodies about running group sessions and mediation sessions for the London pilot are advanced.
- The appointment of new non-executive board members for Cafcass is "really good" news, according to Alison Paddle, chair of the guardians' organisation Nagalro.
