A Legal Services Commission consultation, entitled The Funding Criteriafor Child Care Proceedings, is looking at the implementation of areasonableness test.
The test will consider who receives public funding for cases and willprevent parents who have no interest in a child proceeding from gettingfunding.
A spokesman for the commission said: "The test is to prioritise fundingfor the individuals who remain interested and engaged in their child'scase."
The consultation also looks at excluding residential assessments, inwhich a child is assessed outside their usual place of residence, frompublic legal aid funding.
