The Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it (Mend) programme targets families of overweight and obese children aged seven to 13.
It is run by the Capital City Academy School Sports Partnership, a coalition of 40 Brent schools. Families get to take part in 18 two-hour sessions run by sports coaches, school nurses and nutritionists.
The sessions emphasise hands-on learning through exercise classes and supermarket tours. Jacqueline McDonnell, Mend's programme manager, said: "Mend supports overweight and obese children by getting the whole family involved in making healthier choices."
