Faith-based: Gloucester aims to improve standards

The move is part of a bid to increase the profile of church-based youth work in anticipation of a more commissioning-led approach by local authorities.

A Quality in Youth Work Initiative award has been developed by the diocese, Young Gloucestershire and the Gloucestershire Council for Voluntary Youth Services, and is endorsed by Amaze, the Christian branch of the Community and Youth Workers' Union.

Steve Bullock, youth officer for the Gloucester diocese, said: "A youth project will be able to display each standard for parents and other stakeholders to see the quality of their work."
