Experts to focus on children in care

Health Social Care
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) is putting together a team of experts to examine ways to improve health services for looked-after children.

The Looked-After Children Programme Development Group will draw together information on the health of children in care over the next two years.

It will then produce joint guidance with the Social Care Institute for Excellence, on looked-after children's physical and emotional health. This will include recommendations for local authorities, the NHS and other relevant organisations and have a focus on tackling health inequalities.

The guidance is expected to be published by Nice in September 2010.
