Every child matters: Government association to raise agendaprofile

The members of the board change in September. Last week, the outgoing board agreed to recommend to incoming members that they lead a programme of awareness-raising through local authorities, targeting professionals at delivery level.

Young People Now understands that the campaign will also be directed at the Government, sparked by concern among members that ministers could be steered from the Every Child Matters agenda by the drive to boost educational attainment.

Incoming board members are also being asked to lead on work to align Every Child Matters and government plans to shift power to local communities, by helping local authorities find ways of giving young service users more power over their lives.
