Essex offers aid to young carers

Social Care Youth Work
A guide for young carers is to be handed out in schools and youth clubs in Essex.

The Do You Care? guide offers help, advice and contact numbers so young carers can get the support they need. The guide also helps children recognise if they are a young carer.

Essex County Council will distribute the guide in schools, doctors' surgeries, libraries and youth centres.

Conservative councillor Tracey Chapman, Essex's lead member for children, said the guide could help to identify more young carers who don't realise that support is available.

"It is vital we find these youngsters and let them know they are not alone and that there are people who can give them support," she said.
