The group relies on funding from its members, which include the NSPCC and Barnardo's, but financial problems across the charity sector have left the group with no choice but to start winding down proceedings. Director Samantha Hyde and remaining staff are now looking to keep the group going by merging with another organisation. Former director Hilary Fisher stepped down last June.
Hyde said: "A lot of our members have faced a tough year financially and that has had an impact on our funding. Even though we will not exist as a separate legal entity past March 2010, we are working hard to ensure that the strong brand we have can continue. We hope to talk to other groups regarding our future within the next few weeks and hope to have more information by February."
