The Department for Work and Pensions poll of 765 15- to 19-year-olds found nearly 90 per cent felt they would find work and more than half rejected the idea of signing on.
Nearly 70 per cent took the view that people claiming benefits should do all they possibly can to get back into work.
Susan Anderson, director of education and skills at the Confederation of British Industry, said: "Young people who have a positive attitude to work and who develop these vital skills will succeed in work and life."
