The online poll, which was completed by nearly 300 Guides aged between 14 and 26, found 35 per cent thought their gender influenced the advice they were given. Some felt they were likely to be encouraged to look at female-dominated careers such as childcare or teaching.
The young women also cri-ticised the amount of careers guidance they were given, with 67 per cent of 16- to 17-year- olds saying they felt there was not enough advice given in schools.
