With funding from the Oak Foundation and the Homelessness Directorate, the Removing Disincentives to Work project will support 28 young people at Depaul hostels.
Clare Rowntree, Centrepoint's south of England manager, said: "At-risk young people lose incentives to work because of lack of confidence, employers' attitudes and structural factors." Two youth workers will carry out the work, which will start in May at Simonside House in Newcastle and Frederick Street hostel in London.
In addition, the Depaul Trust received 15,000 from the Carnegie UK Trust and 15,000 from the Henry Smith Trust towards a two-year project with at-risk young people in Newcastle.
