Election News: News in brief - Sex abuse survivor backs Barking seat bid

Shy Keenan, a sex abuse survivor who founded the child abuse campaign group Phoenix Survivors, is backing Demetrious Panton's bid to win children's minister Margaret Hodge's Barking seat at the election. In 2003, Hodge, who was leader of Islington council from 1982 to 1992, had to apologise after labelling Panton as an "extremely disturbed person".
